American Mahjong is a tile-based strategy game, usually played with four players, using the official National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) card. It's different from Chinese or other international versions, which may not use a card or Jokers. You can find out more HERE.

Not at all! Most of our students are complete beginners. You don’t even need to know how to pronounce “Mahjong”—that’s what we’re here for.

Private lessons are available for groups of 4 to 16 players. We’ll tailor the experience to your guest list and bring the right number of instructors to make sure everyone feels supported, engaged, and ready to Mahj with confidence.

We’ll bring everything you need to learn and play—Mahjong sets, cards, and all the teaching tools for a fun, hands-on experience. You just provide the space! A kitchen or dining table works perfectly, along with enough chairs for your group. Feel free to add your own flair with drinks, snacks, or themed treats. Want to level up your setup? Yay! Once your booking is confirmed, you’ll receive a detailed email with everything you need to know before your lesson.
If you’re hosting, keep an eye out for another email about one week before your scheduled session. It’ll include a quick form to gather your guests’ contact info so we can make sure everyone has the best possible Mahj experience.
